January 1 thru March 9, 2008 Jerry Pinkney: Aesop's Fables and Other Tails This exhibition features acclaimed illustrator Jerry Pinkney's delightful portrayals of animals from The Tortoise and the Hare, The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, and other fables by Aesoop. NOTE: This exhibition will be temporarily closed from January 7 through January 18. Upon reopening, the exhibition will include additional illustrations Pinkney created for The Ugly Duckling, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, Uncle Remus Tales and other well-known children's stories.

February 2, 2008 Jerry Pinkney Lecture and Book signing Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford, PA | (610) 388-2700 Children's book illustrator Jerry Pinkney will speak about his work in the Lecture Room beginning at 1 p.m. Following the talk, Mr. Pinkney will sign copies of his books in the second floor lobby. Books illustrated by Mr. Pinkney, including Aesop's Fables and The Little Red Hen, will be available for sale in the museum shop. There is a limit of three signed books per person. Participation in the lecture and book signing is included with regular admission.

Lancaster County Mud Sales
Spend a day with Amish people and their neighbors. Fire company sales have been a regular event in Lancaster County since the mid-1960's. These auctions help local volunteer fire companies raise funds. Since many of the items are sold outside under big tents, these events have affectionately become known as "mud sales". Items for sale include Amish quilts, furniture, crafts items, building materials, livestock, buggies, carriages, tools, farming equipment and more. See website for more information.

Annual Rhubarb Festival

The Seven Sweets & Sours Festival is a tribute to one of the most intriguing aspects of Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine -- where the bounty of the garden is preserved as delectable condiments and relishes, to enjoy alone or as a side dish to a main course. Every inch of the Village grounds will be tied into the Sweets & Sours theme, from special events, food tastings and the sharing of recipes to the colorful end of the garden creature displays featuring far-out creations made from corn husks and other natural materials. In between there's pumpkin painting, live music, cookie decorating, and local artists making scarecrows.
