We want you to have a delightful dining experience while visiting the
Brandywine Valley. All of these restaurants are popular with both
innkeepers as well as with their guests. If you wish additional choices,
feel free to discuss your interests with your innkeeper.
Delaware restaurants are all no smoking and there is no Delaware sales tax.
Pennsylvania restaurants charge a 6% sales tax and smoking policies are
noted. Pricing codes listed represent the range for most of main course

Situated in a beautifully transformed 1892 town house, this award winning restaurant, located in the heart of the Historic District of West Chester offers intimate candlelit dining in an elegant yet casual atmosphere. The friendly knowledgeable servers are attentive to detail and accommodating without being stiff. The menu is classic French fare enhanced with an American flair including favorite entrees such as Jumbo Lump Crabcake and baby New Zealand Rack of Lamb. Among the appetizers are garlic Escargot in rich puff pastry and sauteed Fois Gras. Desserts include warm liquid-center Chocolate Souffle and Créme Brulee.
Trained in France, Chef Peter Gilmore uses his years of experience at a 5-star establishment to create seasonal specialties such as "Ebony and Ivory", flavorful rare white truffles with black truffles in risotto during the fall and "light as a feather" tempura battered Soft-shell Crab in the summer.
Proclaimed the "Best restaurant in West Chester 2005" by Mainline Today and County Lines and "one of the UBER BYOBs by Philadelphia Magazine in July 2005. Zagat Guide describes Gilmore's "as imaginative as it is spectacular" and Bon Appetite's February 2005 issue names Gilmore's as "one of the best spots for a romantic dinner just outside the city limits."
